Joanne and Dara wanted to have an intimate wedding in Brooklyn, so they chose Bubby's in DUMBO as the location. They had planned on an outdoor ceremony on the water overlooking the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, but the weather wasn't working with us that day. I have to say, though, that the soft ambiance inside Bubby's totally set the tone and the bridge disappearing into the fog outside the huge windows made a great backdrop.
I have to say that I had such a great time getting to know Carla and Vieng and their families when I shot their wedding. The live in Texas, and New York is Carla's favorite city, so they decided to have their small ceremony where? At the base of the Statue of LIberty, of course! Here's a few of my favorites...
Below is a shot of Carla's best friend recounting the story of how, as they were on the top deck of the ferry, Carla's brother had just gotten done garnishing his hotdog when a greedy seagull swooped down and took a huge chunk of it. Then it just hovered over them with it hanging out of its mouth (or beak)! Too hilarious...
Recently, I had the opportunity to second shoot my very first Indian wedding for the talented Tara Sharma. Not only Indian, but Jewish as well--they had a "fusion" wedding, with two full weddings in one day, celebrating both of their very rich cultures. It was so interesting for me to shoot! One thing I truly LOVE about living in this part of the country is its diversity, and the fact that I'm shooting entirely different traditions nearly every weekend is just the best.
Pushpa and Ben's day was in Baltimore, MD, and was held at the Engineer's Club. Here are a few of my favorites from the day...
I got together with Carol and Tim bright and early on a sunny and warm (ok, hot!) morning for their engagement session. We frolicked around their super cute new neighborhood--they just moved--in Jersey City.
