Samantha: A Sweet 16 New York Style

Being from the Midwest myself, I hadn't experienced a New York Sweet 16 party until about a year ago, and then was blown away by the extravagance and details--it's like a miniature wedding (and not even all that miniature!), complete with dinner, first dances, and a ceremony including a "changing of the shoes" and crowning.

Here are a few of my favorite shots from Samantha's Sweet 16 party at Fleur de Lis in New York.  Happy Birthday, Samantha!

Autumn in New York

I was hoping for an overcast day today for some Autumn photo-taking in the city and found myself actually disappointed when the sun came out.  Crazy photographer...  But I found this little treat on my return home.  I love the way the shadows of the leaves played on this white wall, with the closer leaves being a richer shade and in sharp focus and the further ones softer.  It reminds me of the Asian art technique where you blow a pool of ink with a straw until it all starts to branch off. 

Martha's Vineyard in the Off-Peak

I was up to Martha's Vineyard last week for a shoot, and so stayed a few extra days to enjoy the gorgeous island during it's quiet season.  And it is quiet--Jamie and I had most of the island and beaches completely to ourselves.  Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Engaged...Regina and Will

I got to spend last Sunday morning frolicking around the bustling streets of Hoboken, NJ, where Regina and Will live.  Congratulations, guys--can't wait to shoot the wedding!
